Story

Nudie Jeans kicked off in Gothenburg in 2001, fueled by a love for dry denim, punk music, and snus. From day one, founders Maria Erixon Levin and Joakim Levin built Nudie Jeans on strong values, with sustainability and human rights at the core. Beyond fair wages, organic cotton, and transparency, they wanted to create a community that cares. Nudie Jeans began repairing jeans as early as 2007 because each pair is meant to be “forever jeans”, the kind you repair, not replace. Today, Nudie Jeans Repair Shops are places to get your jeans fixed (for free), resold, or donated to Nudie Jeans’ recycling program – all to create vintage, not garbage.

No matter how your Nudie jeans looked when you bought them, they all began as a piece of dry denim. Even the pre-washed and pre-distressed styles were dark indigo denim at first. However, with time things tend to change. We cherish well-worn and mended jeans, jeans that become more beautiful the more you wear them, the more you repair them.

At every stage, from harvesting the cotton to indigo dyeing and weaving, down to the sewing, men and women have worked hard to create our products. This is why we value the product so highly and will always believe in the worth of repairing and reusing. An important part of the break-in process is not to wash your jeans too soon or too often, but washing your dry denims early is great if you want an even, clear blue tone. While waiting at least 6 months will give you more contrasting fades. But regardless of who you are, your jeans become a log of the time gone by, and they will end up as one of a kind. Designed by your life.

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. We do repairs one at a time, and seam by seam we're stitching the real value of the garment back in place.

Repair

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. We do repairs one at a time, and seam by seam we're stitching the real value of the garment back in place.

Every pair of Nudie Jeans comes with a promise of free repairs. No matter when or where you got them. Our jeans are meant to be worn a lot. As we provide the jeans, we also take care of them when they are torn. Just wash your jeans and hand them to your closest Nudie Jeans Repair Spot. Once they are patched and sewn, you have an updated version of your favorite jeans.

Re-use

Used, pre-owned, vintage, handed down, second hand, third hand, fourth hand, and so on. Dear child has many names until it gets out of hand. But we just call it Re-use. That is our collaboration with you guys.

You break in the jeans; we trade them back. You get 20% off your next pair, we get our Re-use assortment. That is worn in denim, reconditioned, and ready to be resold and worn some more. Time and time again.

Recycle

They say that all good things come to an end, but ''til death do us part'' are words we don't understand. Because we let denim live forever. When the curtains of the second hand, the third, fourth, or whatever the circus close, the show must go on. Because there's always some spark left in denim and a life to be lived after this one. As patches in the repairs holding it together, or as recycled fibers in a new pair of Nudie jeans.

We recycle our denim mechanically with the same suppliers who provide us with the fabric in the first place. The recycled fibers are blended with virgin organic cotton and spun into new yarns, weaved into denim, and eventually manufactured into a fresh-from-the-oven pair of Nudie jeans. Ready for yet another journey to create tomorrow's vintage.
